Ždrelac, island of Pasman, Croatia
History
The name of this village in the northwestern part of the island, was built
according to historians in the narrow strait, which separates the island of
Pasman of the island of Ugljan. Place name was first mentioned 1379.godine,
then 600 years ago "and insula AD SDRELAC" - HAZ-Vellum - Manor
Consulate et mari -20. August 1379.godine.
For this first mention of the place we are grateful to outstanding Croatian
historian Dr. Stephen Antoljak. Three years after this first mention of the

During the XV. century, this toponym is frequently mentioned in Zadar Notarial
documents and as an independent settlement. Even if the city does not mention
in. XVI. And XVII. century Venetian census, probably because it was an integral
part of the Spa, a place were recorded as "SDRELAC" in Venetian
topography XVIII. century.
Since its foundation, this is 1825. Ždrelac was an integral part of the Spa.
This island resort, as well as any other, is formed around the parish church of
St Luke.
At the beginning of the XIX. century in the village there were fifty tightly
packed houses built of stone castles with the holder of Zadar, and the church
and parish house. At the end of this century, the place has about eighty
houses.
The increase in population as well as on the island continues to work in 1948,
when the Ždrelcu 561 resident resides. Over the next decade the population is
significantly reduced, the census of 1991. Ždrelac had only 258 inhabitants.
In Ždrelcu in 1873, there was a public school with 29 students. Šlolske

Parish of Saint Luke in Ždrelcu not exactly dated, but all the chances that the

St. Luke's Church has a rectangular shape. The extension is squared church

After the First World War the statue of Our Lady, in 1937 founded the girls
choir of Our Lady of Lourdes. The main altar is dedicated to the Mother of God,
the second Holy Luke, patron of the parish and titular, third Our Lady of
Lourdes. The church jei XIV. century wooden altar, facing the highest people.
Image of Our Lady with the Child Jesus in her arms, which was recently
restored, is located on the main altar and is extremely valuable. And this is
